A Hamas-run military court in Gaza has convicted four Palestinians for their involvement in the abduction and murder of the Italian activist Vittorio Arrigoni in April 2011.
Two of the men were given life sentences, says the BBC's Jon Donnison.
One man was sentenced to 10 years, and another will serve one year.
Vittorio Arrigoni, a pro-Palestinian activist, was kidnapped and murdered in Gaza by ultra-conservative radical Islamists.
Arrigoni, 36, was found dead hours after being seized by a radical group in conflict with Hamas.
The group was demanding the release of their leader, who had been arrested by Hamas.
Arrigoni was found hanged in a Gaza City apartment.
He was seized by Salafist radicals, an Islamist movement that considers Hamas as too moderate, our correspondent says.
Mahmud al-Salfiti and Tamer al-Husasna were given life sentences for Mr Arrigoni's kidnapping and murder.
Khadr Faruk Jerim received 10 years for kidnapping and Amer Abu Ghola one year for providing the apartment where Mr Arrigoni was found.
